Hi everyone, welcome back!!! This time I’m back with another friend of mine. Meet Sabrynna! I’ve been going to school with Sabrynna since grade school! We became closer in high school, especially in our accounting class senior year! Sabrynna has also always been someone I’ve looked up to. She was a very successful athlete in high school, and was also someone I could always talk to, about anything!
Sabrynna’s soccer career started at a very young age. She has played on several teams, including elite club teams. She was also one of the top players on her high school team, winning two state titles out of her four years in high school. She helped her team win the state title during her junior year, scoring the winning penalty kick. She has always been one of the top soccer players in New Hampshire.
One of the reasons why Sabrynna chose Roger Williams University, was because of the elite soccer team. Sabrynna came into her first collegiate season with very high hopes. She was excited about a fresh start.
However, something just didn’t seem to click. Sabrynna has struggled with some major injuries during her soccer career. She tore her ACL in high school and has struggled with knee issues ever since. In college, she also tore her hip. These injuries took a huge toll on Sabrynna’s mental health. She loved soccer, but it became too much physically, and mentally.
Sabrynna began to lose her passion for soccer. She would struggle with getting to practice and performing her best. It got to the point, where she was facing anxiety attacks over soccer. She was physically and mentally exhausted. She put a lot of pressure on herself, and soccer was just not the same anymore.
Deciding to leave the soccer team at RWU was a very difficult decision. She has played soccer her entire life, and always excelled as a player. After long consideration, she decided to leave the team to focus on herself.
To focus on her mental health, she has found several ways to help her stay mentally healthy. She likes to; journal, read, draw, and workout. She also has put a lot of focus on her education. At RWU, she is majoring in marketing, and she wants to do social media marketing for a big company or business.
I think this quote really summarizes Sabrynnas's situation; "Don't be afraid of change. You may end up loosing something good, but you will probably end up gaining something better." She might have decided to leave soccer, but her future is very bright, and I know she will succeed!
Sabrynna at media day for RWU.
