Personally, Instagram is my favorite social media website, and the one where I spend the most time on. Over the years, I have found many accounts that spread positivity and awareness regarding mental health. Today’s blog post, I will share my five favorite Instagram pages as I continue my series of social media mental health resources.

Starting with the (@theviragoproject)

I recently started following this account and have been loving their content and overall message! The Virago Project is a nonprofit organization that focuses on female athletes and their life outside of sport as well as body positivity, mental health, and self-care. They post “carousels” as some people call them with advice on how to tackle problems females face in sport. Student-athletes also share their mental health journeys through The Virago Project which is inspiring and motivating! Worth a follow!

Amber Schulz (@amberunz)

Amber Schulz is one of the top high school runners in the country from Florida and has an Instagram that focuses on body positivity, nutrition, and self-confidence. She often posts poems or long captions that focus on her eating disorder story. I relate to Amber’s struggles with her relationship with food and she has been really helpful and encouraging while I continue to work on my nutrition. She was recently on an episode of one of my favorite podcasts, Convos Over Cold Brew and I loved how confident she was on it! I have been following her for a while and I have always been such a huge fan of her overall vibe and energy! Go give her a follow @amberunz!

Dr. Nicole Lepera (@the.holistic.psychologist)

@the.holisitc.psychologist is hands down one of my favorite Instagram accounts as she focuses on spiritual teachings, mindfulness, healing from past trauma, and the egoistic mind. Her posts are very eye-opening and have taught me so much about my personal experiences and traumas. Her posts are often explanations of our behaviors and how others treat us. She is also coming out with her first book, “How to Do the Work: Recognize your Patterns, Heal from the Past, and Create Yourself” in a few weeks and I am so excited to start reading it! If you want to take a deeper dive into how your mind works, your triggers, and your patterns of behavior, go give Nicole a follow! It could quite literally change your perspective on life and your sense of purpose. She was also recently on an episode of Realpod and that was one of my all time favorite podcast episodes!

@onherturf is a media and news company run by NBC that focuses on women in sport. This news company shares recent updates in women’s athletics and advocates for gender equality in sport. Their overall theme and message is something I am passionate about since I am a woman that is going to work in the sports industry! Worth a follow!

@thehiddenopponent

The Hidden Opponent is a nonprofit organization founded by Victoria Garrick that shares athlete’s mental health stories. Their Instagram page is a way for student-athletes to connect and spread awareness about mental health. As a student-athlete myself, I relate to many of their experiences.

Go grab your phone and pull up Instagram right away. You don’t want to miss out on these influencer’s amazing content! Also, when you’re scrolling through Instagram make sure to follow our account @head_inthegame and share with your family and friends!
