Future Coach Caroline

Hi everyone, Welcome back to my blog! This time I am changing things up a little. I am talking to Caroline. I met Caroline through field hockey in high school, as our high school teams would often practice together. Caroline was one of the best players in Manchester, but she decided to take her passion for field hockey in a different direction. Her goal is to become a coach and show her passion for field hockey to others.

Caroline attended Manchester Memorial High School and was a key player for the field hockey team. She was a four year varsity player and helped her team make playoffs in 2018, the first time the program has made it to the playoffs for seven years. Caroline also earned MVP in 2017 and received the coaches’ award in 2018. She was an excellent field hockey player, and she also excelled academically in the classroom.

For Caroline, a lot of people questioned her, and why she decided not to play in college. It was “expected” Caroline would play in college right? She was one of the best players in the city and deserved it. However, her passion for field hockey was different. She realized she wanted to coach players, and show them how to play the game. Caroline has helped Coach Bill (my high school field hockey coach) run/coach a program called Hockeyroos, a program that is meant for younger kids to learn the sport of field hockey.

Talking to Caroline, she was truly inspired to become a coach after her time with Hockeyroos. She was truly inspired by the younger kids, and it showed her how much she wants to show these kids her true passion for field hockey. She plans to continue helping with Hockeyroos, and also hopes to help coach younger club teams.

Caroline was also very appreciative of her high school coach, that helped with her anxiety and mental health. One thing Caroline struggled with in high school was with performance anxiety. She felt the pressure of always being the best and really struggled with finding the perfect game day prep routine. However, her coach helped and supported her, and Caroline was able to find that perfect routine. Caroline hopes to become a coach just like her high school coach.

Caroline is also an excellent student. She is currently attending Southern New Hampshire University, double majoring in mathematics and biology. Her goal is to receive her doctorate and work in the genetic engineering field.

Caroline is an overall hardworking and dedicated individual, whether it be on the sidelines coaching, or in the classroom studying. I’m very excited to see where her future will take her!
